1.ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information Broadcast System) is a broadcast service system that provides weather and runway condition information for landing flights on the airport repeatedly 24 hours a day through VHF ground to air communication radio after collecting and processing airport weather forecast messages (AFTN and SITA), runway opening conditions and other information.
2. ATIS broadcast content: Real time weather, available runways, air pressure, and altimeter correction values at the landing airport. The flight crew actively learns about relevant information about the landing airport by listening to the VHF broadcast frequency, reducing the voice communication load and work intensity of the tower controller in the VHF communication channel, and avoiding congestion in the VHF radio channel.
3.The broadcast content includes METAR and SPECI messages of weather forecast updated every hour, or AWOS data of automatic weather observation system updated in real time.
